Celebrate 12/5/33
Tomorrow fellow whiskey lovers is Repeal Day. December 5th 1933 the 21st Amendment to the U.S. Constitution passed. For clarification, the 18th Amendment ratified in 1919 did not make drinking illegal but the manufacturing and transportation of liquor and as a byproduct of this law, the Speakeasy came into existence. So, in essence, people continued to drink.....a lot.

DeleteIt was a late day at work for me so didn't get home until just before 8:00. I started off with a Goose Island Bourbon County Brand Stout and then moved to a 1936/1941 Mt. Vernon Rye. Nose had had a old leather smell to it....tasted fantastic.
ReplyDeleteMy plans took a detour when I remembered I got a bottle of High West Prairie Reserve that I hadn't tried yet. Decent stuff. Followed it with the Saz 18 from 09 which I love.
